Cookies and trackers

Draft to be legally reviewed before going live.

A cookie is a small file that a website places in your browser. Other techniques play a similar role, such as the browser’s local storage (localStorage). This page lists every tracker used on the website, whether or not it is a cookie.

Tracker categories

Strictly necessary Preferences in localStorage; your choices saved by the consent platform Remember your settings and your cookie decision Not required

Lifetime of each cookie: [detailed list to be completed from the consent management platform].

Strictly necessary

We do not set any cookies ourselves. The website only stores your preferences in your browser’s local storage: theme, last keyboard used, input mode, text size, chosen font, whether word suggestions are on, acceptance of the dictation notice, favourites and best quiz score. This data stays on your device and is never sent to us. The consent management platform also keeps a record of your choice so that it does not ask you again on every page.

Audience measurement

Google Analytics 4 is turned on only after you agree. The cookieless measurement tool produces overall statistics that cannot identify you.

Advertising

Google AdSense shows the ads that fund the website. Personalised ads, based on your browsing, require your consent. For visitors in the European Economic Area, the United Kingdom and Switzerland, this consent is collected through a Google-certified platform compatible with the IAB TCF framework.

Changing your choice

You can accept, refuse or customise trackers on your first visit, then change your mind at any time with the “Manage cookies” link at the bottom of every page. Withdrawing consent is as easy as giving it.

You can also delete cookies and site data from your browser settings. Doing so also erases your local preferences (theme, favourites and so on).

For more on how your data is handled, read the privacy policy.
