Online Kabyle keyboard (Taqbaylit)
Type normally on your keyboard; AltGr (or Alt) + a letter gives its variant (e.g. e → ɛ).
Dictation uses your browser's speech recognition. Unless it runs on your device, your voice is sent to your browser's service (Google for Chrome, Microsoft for Edge, Apple for Safari); nothing goes through our site.

Long-press a key for variants (e.g. e → ɛ).
Phonetic mapping table
3 → ɛgh → ɣ.d → ḍ.h → ḥ.r → ṛ.s → ṣ.t → ṭ.z → ẓ^c → č^g → ǧ^j → ǧ,t → ţThe Kabyle keyboard adds the eleven letters specific to Taqbaylit to your usual Latin keyboard: ɛ, ɣ, č, ǧ, ḍ, ḥ, ṛ, ṣ, ṭ, ţ and ẓ. Type as you normally would, insert these letters with AltGr or a short code, then copy your text.
How to use
- Type as usual: in Layout mode, the ordinary letters of your QWERTY or AZERTY keyboard stay where they are.
- Hold AltGr (Option on a Mac) and press the base letter: AltGr+E for ɛ, AltGr+G for ɣ, AltGr+D for ḍ.
- Add Shift to get a capital, for example Shift+AltGr+G for Ɣ.
- On a touch screen, press and hold e, g, c, j, d, h, r, s, t or z to reach the Kabyle letter, or open the Kabyle letters panel.
- Copy the result and paste it into your chat, document or web page.
An online Kabyle keyboard for Taqbaylit
Kabyle, or Taqbaylit, is the Berber language of Kabylie, in northern Algeria. It is usually written with the Berber Latin alphabet, which adds signs such as ɛ, ɣ, č, ǧ and several dotted letters to the familiar ones. Computer and phone keyboards do not include them out of the box; this page adds them without changing any setting on your device.

Phonetic mode or AltGr: which one to use?
Phonetic mode suits you if you want to type fast without leaving the basic letters. The digit 3 becomes ɛ, gh becomes ɣ, and a dot placed before d, h, r, s, t or z gives the dotted letter: a.dar turns into aḍar. The caret produces č and ǧ (^cina gives čina), and the comma produces ţ. AltGr is more direct once you know where each letter sits.
On a phone, long-press and the Kabyle letters panel replace both methods, and a second panel gathers the capitals. When your text is ready, copy it, save it as a .txt file or a PNG image, or share it straight to WhatsApp. Nothing you type ever leaves your browser.
To write in Amazigh script instead, switch to the Tifinagh keyboard. The Algeria page lists the other keyboards that are useful in the country, Arabic included.
