Type in Arabic online, your way

You don’t need to know where Arabic letters sit on a keyboard. Three input modes fit different habits: the standard layout if you have learned it, phonetic typing letter by letter, or word mode, where salam followed by Space becomes سلام. Short vowel marks, regional letters such as ڭ and ڨ, and Eastern Arabic numerals (١٢٣) wait in side panels, one click away. Once your text is ready, copy it, save it as a .txt file or PNG image, or send it straight to WhatsApp. Start with the Arabic keyboard online.

Who it’s for

  • Phone users in North Africa: type Darija in Latin letters with 3, 7 or 9 and see it appear in Arabic script, with settings for Moroccan or Algerian and Tunisian spelling habits. See the Morocco page.
  • Heritage speakers and learners: the interactive Arabic alphabet shows every letter in its four forms, and the alphabet quiz helps them stick.
  • Designers: design software mode prepares readable text for Photoshop when Arabic shows up reversed or with disconnected letters.
  • Students and teachers: the Arabic-Latin converter produces Arabizi or scholarly transliteration, and the keyboard with vowels makes fully vocalised texts easier to write.
  • Dates and names: the Hijri date converter gives today’s date in both calendars and the upcoming Islamic holidays, and Your name in Arabic writes your name in five calligraphic styles, with an image to download.

More alphabets, same simple tool

The same keyboard tool is available for Tifinagh, Kabyle in Latin script (ɛ, ɣ, ḥ…), Russian with phonetic input, Greek with accented vowels, and Hebrew with niqqud. Persian and Urdu keep the Arabic script with their own letters (پ, چ, ژ, ٹ, ں), while the Turkish, French, Spanish and German keyboards add special letters to the keyboard you already have. What you type stays in your browser, and there is nothing to pay and no account to create. Prefer to add Arabic to your operating system instead? Follow the Windows installation guide.

Frequently asked questions

Is this online keyboard site free to use?
Yes. Every keyboard and tool works without payment or sign-up; the site is funded by advertising.
Is my text sent to a server while I type?
No. Typing and conversion happen inside your browser, so your text never leaves your device. Only settings such as theme and favourites are stored, and only on that device.
Can I type in Arabic online from my phone?
Yes. On mobile, the on-screen keyboard takes the place of your phone's own keyboard, with keys sized for touch. Tap the Phone keyboard button whenever you want your usual keyboard back.
Do I need to install anything to use these keyboards?
No, a web page is all you need. If you like, the Install the app button adds the site to your home screen or computer, and it then works offline as well.
Which languages can I type on this site?
Arabic, with regional settings for Morocco, Algeria-Tunisia and the Levant and Gulf, plus Persian, Urdu, Tifinagh, Kabyle, Turkish, Russian, Greek and Hebrew, and the accented letters of French, Spanish and German. Each language has its own page with step-by-step instructions.
