Keyboards for WhatsApp and messaging apps

Your phone doesn't have the right keyboard? Write your message here, in the alphabet of your choice, then send it to WhatsApp with the “Share” button or a simple copy and paste.

Compatible keyboards

Write, then share in seconds

The process is the same for every script on the site. Type your message in the text box, on a physical keyboard or the touch screen, check the character and word counter if needed, then tap “Share” and select WhatsApp: the app opens with your text, ready to send to the contact of your choice. On a computer, the “Copy” button is all you need before pasting into WhatsApp Web or the desktop app.

Which keyboard to use

  • Arabic for WhatsApp: type in Arabizi (3, 7, 9) or on the official layout, with harakat if you like.
  • Russian: ЙЦУКЕН layout or phonetic typing.
  • Greek: with accents and diaeresis.
  • Hebrew: right to left, with final letters.
  • Tifinagh and Kabyle: for messages in Amazigh, in the Tifinagh or Latin alphabet.

Tips for your messages

Star the keyboard you use most to keep it in your favourites, or install the app on your home screen to open it in one tap, even offline. Your text stays on your phone until you send it: it is never passed to the site’s servers.

Frequently asked questions

How do I send a message in Russian, Greek or Hebrew on WhatsApp?
Open the keyboard for the language you need, type your message, then tap “Share” and choose WhatsApp. You can also click “Copy” and paste the text into the chat.
Do I need to install a keyboard on my phone to write in another alphabet?
No. On mobile, the site's keyboard appears in place of your phone's own, without touching your settings. The “Phone keyboard” button gives you your usual keyboard back.
Will my contact see the letters correctly?
The text you send is standard Unicode, readable on most recent phones. If your contact's device has no font for a less common script, such as Tifinagh, send your message as a PNG image instead.
Does the Share button work with other apps?
Yes: it also offers Messenger, email and your phone's native sharing, which lists every app installed on your device.
