Type your text here, then paste it as it is or as a converted version with the letters already joined and the order already reversed.
How to use
- Type your Persian text in the box above, with your keyboard, the on-screen keys or Finglish in Words mode.
- If Photoshop uses the Middle Eastern and South Asian text engine, click Copy.
- Otherwise, in Design software mode, already open on this page, keep Join letters and Reverse order ticked and click Copy converted text.
- In Photoshop, pick the Type tool, click once on the canvas and paste with Ctrl+V (Cmd+V on a Mac).
- Choose a font that includes Persian letters and check that پ, چ, ژ and گ display correctly.
Why Photoshop breaks Persian text apart
Persian shares two constraints with Arabic: each line reads from right to left, and every letter changes shape depending on its neighbours. Without a suitable engine, Photoshop ignores both, and کتاب turns into a row of detached letters in reverse order. The letters specific to Persian, پ, چ, ژ, گ, ک and ی, are affected like all the others.
Persian text in Photoshop: switch the text engine first
Open the Type preferences (Edit > Preferences > Type on Windows, Photoshop > Settings > Type on a Mac) and choose the Middle Eastern and South Asian engine, then create a new document. Text copied with the Copy button now flows from right to left with joined letters, and the layer holds real Persian text that you can edit later. In that case, do not run the conversion on top of it, or the word will be flipped a second time.
Converted text and what is specific to Persian
If your version has no such setting, Design software mode, already open here, takes over. It swaps every letter for its joined form (Unicode presentation forms) and reverses the character order. Four points concern Persian in particular:
- The half-space is respected: in میخواهم, the ی takes its final form before the break, and خواهم starts again with an initial letter.
- ی and ک stay Persian: a word-final ی shows without dots and never slips into Arabic ي.
- Numbers stay readable: ۱۴۰۳ or 25 keep their reading direction inside a reversed sentence.
- One line per layer: make point text with a single click of the Type tool, because automatic wrapping in a paragraph box would mix up the line order.
Keep the normal version with Download (.txt), since that is the text you will correct before converting it again.
Preparing Persian copy you cannot read
If a client sends you their text, simply paste it into the box: the conversion works on pasted text just as on typed text. For a short word, switch to Words mode, type khodahafez and press Space to get خداحافظ; the phonetic Persian keyboard covers the other rules. Nothing leaves your browser, which matters for projects that are not public yet.
For all your other Persian writing, go back to the online Persian keyboard. Arabic designs have their own page, Arabic text in Photoshop, and the Photoshop use page lists every compatible keyboard.
